Officer Kevin Olivet shoots and kills an unarmed shoplifter in the commission of a crime. The Public Advocate, who is now acting Mayor Maggie Dutton, fires Frank when he refuses to make the Officer’s record public.

The press becomes so bad that Olivet decides to resign from the NYPD before the investigation is even complete.
Turns out the shoplifter was high on cocaine and amphetamines at the time of the shooting. The Mayor later apologizes to Frank and offers to keep him on because his polling numbers are so high.
When her ex-husband, Jack doesn’t return her calls, Erin goes with Danny to check it out and finds Jack has been stabbed.
Jack survives, but can’t remember who tried to kill him. Erin begs Danny to work the case, even though he insists he’s retiring from the NYPD.
Turns out Jack just refused to take Dr. Webber’s case, a possible serial killer who was going head to head with Erin.
